Obituary

Obituary for NORMA DEAN ""JEAN"" MARSHALL

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Norma Marshall, our dearly beloved wife, mother, sister, grandmother and great grandmother on February 15, 2020.

Norma ‘Jean’ Marshall was born on July 24, 1935 in Dardanelle, Arkansas to Ernest Lee Campbell and Ola Hester Campbell. Norma grew up with one brother Jehu, and 2 sisters, Velda Jo and Ernesteene. Norma’s father taught her and her siblings the value of a dollar by working hard, saving their money and contributing to the family household. They traveled picking crops to earn money and finally settling in the San Fernando Valley in California.

Norma graduated from San Fernando High School where she met and married her high school sweetheart, Charles. They had three children, Brenda, Randy and Glenda. When asked why she named her daughter’s with similar names she said there was an actress she really liked named Brenda Marshall.
Norma loved her family and thoroughly enjoyed attending all of the children’s sporting events which included baseball, basketball, football and soccer. She also enjoyed going to baseball games especially the Angels and Astros. Norma and her husband Chuck met and have remained friends with many from their square-dancing days. Over the years they enjoyed card games, pool parties and camping trips. Some of Norma’s hobbies were putting together jigsaw puzzles, doing crossword puzzles, sewing and travel but her favorite was being an avid reader.

Norma and her husband Chuck celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary a month early this last year August 2019 surrounded by family and close friends.Norma is survived by her loving husband Charles Marshall, sisters Velda Jo Rhinehardt and Ernesteene Cover, her children Brenda Brewer, Randy Marshall (Carole) and Glenda Marshall Almeida, her grandchildren Mykala Howard (Brian), Rhonda Colombo (Chris), Averi Almeida and Chase Almeida. Her great grand-children Dominique Colombo, Kayne Howard, Mia Colombo and Tanner Howard. Norma is pre-deceased by her parents Ernest Campbell and Ola Campbell, parents in law Charles Marshall and Lucy Marshall and her brother Jehu Campbell.

A private memorial service is being held on Saturday, February 22, 2020. Condolences can be left at the Halley-Olsen-Murphy website. In lieu of flowers, a donation can be made to St. Jude’s Childeren’s hospital.
