Dr. Abayomi Adebowale Adolphus Obadeyi, a native of Oke-Odo Igbore, Abeokuta in Ogun State, Nigeria, passed away peacefully on April 18th, 2024, at the age of 74. Born on February 27th, 1950, in Ibadan, Nigeria, Dr. Obadeyi was a man of unwavering faith, discipline, and generosity. His life was a testament to the power of hard work, determination, and a deep commitment to God.
At the age of 19, Dr. Obadeyi immigrated to the United States, where he pursued his passion for science and education. He graduated with a degree in Biochemistry from Elmira College in New York and went on to earn his Doctorate in Pharmacy from Oregon State University College of Pharmacy. His academic excellence and dedication to his field led him back to Nigeria, where he served as a professor of pharmaceutical chemistry at the University of Ibadan. During his tenure, he was honored to become one of the chiefs of Igbore town in Abeokuta, a role that allowed him to serve his community with distinction.
Dr. Obadeyi's career took him to Saudi Arabia, where he served as the Chief of Pharmacy at Prince Abdullah Hospital for over a decade. His leadership and expertise were instrumental in the development of the hospital's pharmacy services. In 2002, driven by a desire to provide his family with better opportunities, he returned to the United States and continued his career as a pharmacist at Rite Aid.
A devoted husband and father, Dr. Obadeyi is survived by his beloved wife of over three decades, Olubunmi Obadeyi, and their three children: Oluseyi, Olawole, and Omojadesola Obadeyi. His family was the center of his life, and he worked tirelessly to ensure their well-being and success.
Dr. Obadeyi was a devout Christian, serving as a deacon and elder at the Redeemed Christian Church of God. His faith was evident in his daily life, and he was an active and passionate member of his church community. He believed deeply in the power of education as a tool against poverty and dedicated much of his life to promoting educational opportunities for others.
He leaves behind a legacy of faith, hard work, and service. Dr. Obadeyi died a fulfilled man, having achieved his goals and left an indelible mark on all who knew him. His life was a blessing to his family, friends, and the many communities he served.
Dr. Abayomi Adebowale Adolphus Obadeyi will be deeply missed, but his spirit will live on in the hearts of all who were fortunate to know him. May his soul rest in perfect peace.
