John R. Vance

John Ragan Vance (December 3, 1939 – May 6, 2024) passed on Monday, May 6th surrounded in love by his cherished wife and family. 

John was born in Ruston Louisiana to Irma and JD Vance. He graduated from West Monroe High school as an accomplished Eagle Scout. He moved to Roswell New Mexico in 1962 where he met and 6 months later married his beloved wife Pauline. John is a graduate of Louisiana Tech, California State University Northridge and Walden University where he received his Doctorate in Education. 

John was a long time and passionate educator, teaching in the Los Angeles County court schools for over 35 years. He was an active member of Rotary Club and Elks Lodge and a committed educational leader in the Antelope Valley. John was well known for his colorful storytelling, his sense of adventure and his generous and supportive nature. He and Pauline had traveled all around the world, Spain, South Africa, Germany, France, Liechtenstein, Switzerland and many more. He was a one of a kind, distinctive man who sported beautifully crafted cowboy hats, boots and belt buckles. This small writing cannot encompass the depth and breadth of the wonderful life he led and how much he was loved. 

John leaves behind his beloved wife Pauline, his sister Becky (spouse William -deceased), and his brother William (spouse Judy). His nieces and nephews: Lisa Marie, Michael and Alan, John Kevin, Elizabeth Amanda (deceased), Billy Jr, Nancy, Scott, Colleen, Carla and Marc and his grand nieces and nephews - Jennifer, Mark, David, George, James, Malcolm, Avery, Anniston, Shasta and Ericka and 15 great- grand nieces and nephews. He will be deeply missed.
