MISS ME, BUT LET ME GO

When I come to the end of the road
And the sun has set for me,
I want no rites in a gloom filled room,
Why cry for a soul set free?
Miss me a little, but not too long
And not with a head bowed low,
Remember the love that we once shared,

Miss me, but let me go
For this is a journey we all must go alone,
It's all a part of the Master’s Plan,
A step on the road to home,
When you are lonely and sick in your heart,
Go to the Jesus we know and bury your sorrows,
In doing good deeds.
Miss me but let me go.

Susan Sheppard was born on April 26, 1922, the daughter of late mother, Lilly Spatley Wilson, and father Albert Wilson. Susan was the last surviving of their seven children. She has now joined the cherished memories of: Albert and Lilly Wilson, Elmer Lee Wilson, Catherine Stewart, Ralph Wilson, Ruffin Wilson, Charles Wilson, and Frank Wilson.

Although previously married, Susan joined hands in holy matrimony to “the love of her life”, Loye Sheppard on May 28, 1970. Their hands and hearts were still joined until Jesus called him home on January 9, 2002.

Sunset
On February 7, 2022, Susan passed away and left to mourn her passing a host of loved ones who rejoice in her eternal rest and peace within the grace of her Lord and Savior. Her wisdom, love, and ever sharpened sense of humor has been the beacon she wielded to bring those she loved closer to Christ. Those lives guided by or raised in love by her were Flame McFerrin, Laquita Anderson, Ronald Anderson, and Lloyd Mix. Also in mourning are her maternal nieces and nephews: Delores Stewart, Marvin Stewart, Victor Stewart, Stephanie Stewart, and Karen Stewart. There are many families and friends left behind to celebrate her life as well.

Susan Sheppard was interred at the Riverside National Cemetery on February 15, 2022. Join us in celebrating the long-awaited twenty-year reunion of Susan and Loye Sheppard. The family would like to thank everyone for their thoughts and prayers for a woman we love and now let go.
