Ronald Winkler

Ronald M. Winkler, beloved son, husband, father, and grandfather, passed away on November 11, 2023, at the age of 79, in Lancaster, California.

Ron was born in Cleveland, Ohio, on November 20, 1943, but he and his family moved to California three years later, where he lived for the remainder of his life.
He graduated from Verdugo Hills High School in 1961, and attended Long Beach State University where he earned a Bachelor’s degree in electronic engineering in 1966. He used his skills for the next forty plus years in the aerospace industry, working for Litton Ship Systems and Bendix/Allied Signal/L-3 Communications, creating circuit boards for the dipping sonar and also worked on other projects.

Ron and Katherine were married on June 10, 1967, at First Baptist Church of Tujunga, California.

He is survived by Katherine Winkler, his wife of 56 years, daughter Laura Taxdal (Mark) of Lancaster, California, son Ron Winkler II (Rachel) of Croatia, and son Robert Winkler (Sarah) of Germany. Besides his three children, he is survived by his seven grandchildren, including Andrew, Daniel, and Caleb Winkler, Sarah Madden (Jacob), Mollie and Meghan Winkler, and Mark Taxdal II. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews, cousins, and siblings Martha (Roland) Reuber and John (Reta) Winkler.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Susanna Winkler, sister Evelyn, brother-in-law Leo, nephew Craig, niece Jill, and other family members.

He enjoyed participating in the high jump and other cross-country sports in high school, water skiing, hiking, skeet shooting, playing the accordion and piano by ear, preaching at Emmanuel Baptist Rescue Mission in Los Angeles, teaching a Bible study group at work, and being an usher for many years at Lancaster Baptist Church. He was known for being a hard worker, for his witty yet dry sense of humor, for his ability to solve problems, and that he could fix anything! He was saved at an early age and led a life of a faithful Christian servant. He was a helpful and giving man, whether to missionaries, the church, and to his family; he loved his family and was a wonderful provider.
