Patsy Lorraine Shows was born on December 18, 1941 in San Fernando, California to Bessy and Meryl Edwards. She met Branton Edward Shows II in her early 20’s and married by the age of 26. Married for 53 years, they loved each other through hard times and easy. They experienced tremendous grief through the loss of two children, yet still held each other up to share life’s joys. Patsy and Branton brought 8 children into this world. Jefferey, Melissa, Steven, Linda, Michael, Martha, Scotty, and Davin.
Patsy not only loved her family, but she loved people. She had a passion for caring for people. It was one of her many talents. Patsy was a CNA for 12 years, and then an RNA for another 12 years. She cared for her patients the way she cared for her family. Patsy not only had 8 biological children, but she always took in the neighbor kids as her own. Patsy and her daughter Linda then took in Patsy’s grandchildren Leslie and Vincent after their mother passed away. Patsy and Linda adopted Leslie and Vincent and finished raising them as well. Patsy was a mama bear to all.
Aside from loving life and loving her family, Patsy loved gardening, and arts and crafts. When she wasn’t working or raising children, she was gardening or creating beautiful crafts and decorations. Patsy loved all roses and hummingbirds. Patsy loved every shade of purple. Anytime we brought a new baby into the family, she would shower them in purple clothing. We called them Grammy’s Little Grapes. Patsy’s favorite times were weekly family dinners, and holidays. She especially loved Christmas.
Patsy was beautiful, strong willed, witty, charismatic, patient, kind, creative, and talented. There wasn’t anything Patsy wouldn’t do for her loved ones.
All grandparents are full of love, but it’s the one’s whose love impacts others so deeply, the ones affected by that love in turn pay it forward to share the love she brought into this world.
Patsy would always say “I love you to the moon and back.” And she meant it with her whole heart.
Patsy is survived by her children Jeff, Melissa, Steven, Linda, Marty, and Scott, her 25 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and countless neighborhood children who all called her ‘Mom’. She was deeply loved and will be dearly missed.
