Jeremiah O'Brien

Jeremiah Patrick O’Brien, 82, of Lancaster, CA, passed away on August 26, 2023 at his home peacefully with his family by his side after a diagnosis of cancer.

He was born in Dorchester, Massachusetts on April 16, 1941. He later moved to Dedham, Massachusetts where he joined the U.S. Navy. He was preceded in death by his daughters Coleen and Kim, his son Daniel, his father Jeremiah, mother Mary, sister Marie, and brother Jim. He is survived by his spouse, Margaret O’Brien, his son Jeremiah Jr. III., and his two daughters’, Lisa and Teresa. He is also survived by his three siblings, Patricia, Eileen, and Joe. He also had eight grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

Jeremiah was an Alumni/Former Sailor on the USS Hornet, an Alumni of VP-92 in South Weymouth Massachusetts, a VP-65 sailor in Point Mugu, California. While at Point Mugu, he became the rank of Chief in 1979. After 24 years, he retired in San Diego, California and then moved to Lancaster, California in 1986 to open his own automotive shop. His career didn’t finish there. He worked as an Avionics Technician for the B-2 Bomber for Northrop Grumman for 15 years and retired there. Jeremiah wasn’t the type of man to just sit around and enjoy retirement, so he joined the workforce again for 5 years at Edwards Air Force Base as an Avionics Technician before he retired for good.

He was a lifelong fan of the Boston Red Sox, Boston Celtic’s, Boston Bruins, and a huge New England Patriots Fan. He loved spending time with his family and the love of his life for nearly 40 years. He was known for his passion and love of Irish Music through singing and playing the accordion. We will remember his smile and his great sense of humor. He will be greatly missed by all who loved and knew him.

A Celebration of Life will be held at the Cole House on Saturday, September 30, 2023 at 2:00 P.M.
