Dorise Ernestine James

Dorise Ernestine James was born on August 15, 1960, in Los Angeles, CA. Dorise was the beloved daughter of Dolly Mae James and Nathaniel James.

Dorise accepted Christ at an early age and lived a life full of faith. She attended Fremont High School and later pursued a career in housekeeping. In 1975, she found her first love, Jerry Greenhoward, who lived next door. It was love at first sight. Together, they had four children: Raynard, Lashanda, Jerome, and Louvenia. Tragically, Jerry passed away, leaving Dorise to raise their children on her own. Later on in life Dorise met Tazzy, and during their union was blessed with three more children: Travione, Jazz, and Jasmine. Years later in 1989, Dorise met Sylvester Clark who she loved until his passing in 2022. 

Dorise, known for her generous spirit, was passionate about helping others, often volunteering her time to help those that were less fortunate. Dorise was meticulous in everything she did, Dorise had a knack for cleanliness that her family lovingly referred to as a good kind of OCD. Her warmth, kindness, and dedication to family and community will forever be remembered. 

Dorise is survived by her children: Raynard (Annette) of Lancaster, CA; Lashanda of Lancaster, CA; Louvenia of Las Vegas, NV; Travione of Bakersfield, CA; Jazz of Lancaster, CA; and Jasmine of North Dakota. Dorise also leaves behind 20 grandchildren: Rayzhanna, Rae'min, Rayniya, Ricky, Carly, John, Cra'Shay, Lashay, Ka'von, Travione Jr., Trinity, Areauna, Adriauna, Jazz Jr., Josiah, Marina, Tariq, Travis Jr., Tyrell, and Jason. Four siblings: Jacqueline James of Lancaster, CA, Trudy James of Fort Lauderdale, FL, Cheryl James of Los Angeles, CA, and Nathaniel James Jr. of California, as well as a host of aunts, great-aunts uncles nieces and nephews. 

Dorise was preceded in death by her parents: Dolly and Nathaniel James, son: Jerome Greenhoward, and sisters: Louann and Geraldine James and the Love of her Life Sylvester Clark. 

 Dorise will be deeply missed and fondly remembered for her kind heart and willingness to tell the truth!
