Connie Wallace

July 27, 1934 — January 1, 2024

Consuelo “Connie” Macias Wallace was born in Los Angeles, California, on July 27, 1934, to Raymon and Esperanza Evans Macias. She was raised in Lincoln Heights, California where she attended Sacred Heart Elementary School and High School. Connie graduated from High School and completed two years of business school, but her true passion was Folklórico dance. Dance played an important role in Connie’s life as she met her husband, Frederick “Fred” J. Wallace, while she was performing Folklórico on Olvera Street in Los Angeles. Connie and Frederick married on November 26, 1955. They remained devoted spouses just short of 50 years until Fred's death. Together with Fred, Connie raised five children: four daughters and one son. Never one to let society dictate her choices, Connie’s life was spent as an advocate and champion for her son, John, who was born with Down Syndrome.

As an adult, Connie remained a loving and dutiful daughter who cared for her mother and managed her parents’ family business. Connie had many roles in her life: daughter, sister, dancer, wife, mother, advocate, grandmother, great-grandmother, and businesswoman, but her favorite and most important was her love for God. A  devoted Catholic, Connie attended Mass regularly and faithfully attended weekly prayer Adoration at Sacred Heart Church for many years. Connie is predeceased by her Husband, Fredie, and son John. She is survived by her four daughters, Cynthia, Sandra, Anna, and Katherine, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
