Charles Alton Morris passed away on August 2nd, 2021 at Annabelle’s Cottage in Palmdale, California. He was born in Langdale, Alabama, on July 31st, 1931, the middle child of James Gordon Morris and Verna Helderbrand Morris.

Charles was educated at Langdale School and graduated from Valley High School in 1949. He was active in Boy Scouting and attained the rank of Eagle Scout. He was a member of Langdale Methodist Church.

After graduation from Valley High School, Charles enlisted in the U. S. Air Force where he served for four years. He spent that time in Anchorage, Alaska, and at Pope Air Force Base in Fayetteville, North Carolina.

Upon completing his time in service, he used the G. I. Bill to further his education at DeVry Institute in Chicago where he studied electronics. He was hired immediately after school by General Dynamics and moved to Fort Worth, Texas, where he lived for several years. General Dynamics then sent him to California, where he lived in Lancaster. He spent the remainder of his working years at Edwards Air Force Base testing aircraft, including the F-111 and later the F-16. Charles retired from General Dynamics in 2000.

Charles’ hobbies included building model airplanes, shooting trap and skeet, gun collecting, coin collecting and stamp collecting. He owned and rode a Harley Davidson motorcycle which earned him the nickname “Harley Charlie.” He was also a Shriner and a supporter of the Shriner’s Crippled Children’s Hospital.

Charles was predeceased by his parents; his brother, James Harold Morris; his sister, Jerrene Morris Falk; a niece, Kay Morris Brown; and nephews, William (Bill) Morris and David Falk.

He is survived by a sister-in-law, Caroline Biteley Morris; nephews Harold Morris, Jr., Kenneth (Ken) Morris, and Joel Morris; and nieces Bonnie Falk Bonner, Crystal Morris Smiley and Debra Melton..

A private family memorial service will be held in Alabama at a later date.

Memorial contributions to Shriners Crippled Children’s Hospital in Charles’ memory will be appreciated.
