Barbara Jean (Moore) Rogers passed away on April 29, 2021, surrounded by her family.
Barbara was born in Joplin, MO in August 1936. She attended high school and community college in Joplin, MO. She met and married Rex F. Rogers on June 25, 1954 in Joplin, MO.
Together they moved to Duncanville, TX and started their family. They moved to Palmdale, California in 1969 where they worked and raised 5 children: Richard, Linda, Terri, Vicki and Cheree. While in Palmdale, Barbara worked for Lockheed for 38 years as an administrative assistant. One of the projects that she was involved in, and most proud of was, “Skunk Works,” which spanned many years of her time at Lockheed. When Barbara was not at work she could be found at the local Little League field managing softball teams and keeping the score books, and at Palmdale High School volunteering for the girls basketball program keeping stat books or running the clock. Over the years she also enjoyed serving at First Southern Baptist Church in Palmdale, Bethel Baptist Church in Lancaster and Lancaster Baptist Church.
In 2013, shortly after retiring from Lockheed, she moved to San Diego, CA to be closer to her children and grandchildren and enjoyed participating in their daily activities.
She died after a long battle with Alzheimers. She is survived by her 5 children: Richard (Theresa) Rogers, Linda (David) Schnebeck, Terri (Paul) Clark, Vicki (Doug) Mead, and Cheree (Paul) Elliott and 15 grandchildren: Lexi, Rachel, Mackenzie and Skylar Rogers; Nathan, Aimee and Luke Schnebeck; Elizabeth, Annie and Samuel Clark; Jodie and Kacie Klinnert and Lindsey and Chad Zito; and William Elliott. She is also survived by her sister Brenda Hoel and her two children Kalen and Derek. She is preceded by her husband Rex Rogers and her grandson Michael Rogers.
Please join us at the graveside service 1:00 pm Friday, May 21, 2021 @ Desert Lawn Memorial Park, 2200 E. Ave. S, Palmdale, CA. There will also be a reception celebrating her life, at The Element Hotel, 39325 Trade Center Drive, Palmdale CA, 93551.
