Alfred "Fritz" Miller

September 21, 1930 — May 7, 2024

Lancaster, CA

Our beloved husband, father and grandfather Alfred Miller joined his lifelong copilot in eternal life on May 7, 2024 at home in Lancaster, CA.  He was born in Wasco, California on a dairy farm on September 21, 1930 to Josef and Marie Miller.  He spent his youth watching the airplanes fly over the farm while they were training during WWII which began his interest in aerospace.

Upon high school graduation he entered college and graduated from UC Berkley with a degree in Mathematics.  He married his hometown sweetheart, Dorothy, and upon graduation they immediately moved to begin his aerospace career at Edwards Air Force Base.  His career lasted for almost 40 years, finishing as a Division Chief.  Following his retirement from Edwards, Fritz began his 30 year volunteer career in Detention Ministry.  He would visit the detention camps around the valley and minister to the youth.  He was honored with a Volunteer of the Year Award from the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors for his service.

At the age of 88, Fritz wrote and published a book called “From Cows to Space with God as My Co-Pilot”, about the story of his family life and career.

Fritz is survived by his wife of 71 years, Dorothy, his daughters Melissa (Rodger) Gaudi, Natalie (Rick) Warwick and Meribeth Shaffstall and his sons Kevin (Ann) Miller, Keith (Karen) Miller, Karl Miller and Charles Miller, his 13 grandchildren, Franklin, Sarah, Gwendolyn, Gordon, Lindsey, Joshua, Arinda, Philip, Brian, Denise, Timothy, Jasmine and Jesse, twenty great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren.  His two sisters Rose Bennett and Theresa Garibaldi survive him.

Fritz was predeceased by his parents, his siblings Mary, Joe, Aloise, Richard, and Robert and his daughter, Jennifer.
