Pauline Lucy Salcido, 98, of Lancaster, passed away on July 15, 2019 of natural causes. She lived in Bishop California as well. Her departure from this life was peaceful and comfortable, with family at her side. She was able to maintain her sharp wit and dignity throughout the stages of dying. She was born in Las Vegas, New Mexico on August 1, 1920 to Rafelita (1883-1982) and Adolfo Garcia (1877-1973).
She is survived by her sons Ralph G. and wife Sara Salcido of Lake Hughes; Richard and wife Maryann Salcido of Philadelphia, PA; and Lawrence Archuleta of Los Angeles. She is also survived by daughters-in-law Eva Salcido of Banning and Karen Salcido of Ventura. As the matriarch of the family, she nurtured and is survived by four generations of children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her late husband Matias Ortiz Salcido, her daughter Stella Leonard and her husband Stuart Leonard, and sons Matt Salcido, Eddie Salcido, Danny Salcido, and Albert Archuleta.
Pauline had an award-winning talent for quilting and crafts. She collected antiques, glassware and dolls, sharing them with her wide circle of friends and family. She enjoyed music and singing on long road trips with her husband. Her gregarious personality connected to the traits of her zodiac sign, Leo. Her spiritual color was green, which matched her striking green eyes. She was most happy surrounded by family, telling stories, especially to her many grandchildren.
As the saying goes: “There are many different titles a woman can have, but whether you called her Nana, Grammie, Grandma, or Granny she was indeed a special person!”
