Genevieve Powers

Genevieve Powers passed away November 23, 2022 with family by her side in Barstow, CA. Genevieve was Born in St. John’s Newfoundland. Genevieve just turned 98 on the 8th of November 2022, she was the daughter of Andrew and Bridget Roost and was the middle child of 3 daughters. Genevieve was joyfully returned to her Heavenly Father and reunited with her family.

Genevieve and MSGT Maurice Vincent Powers were married on August 22nd, 1959 on Goose Bay AFBf in Labrador and Newfoundland. She was a mother to her three sons ( Dennis Pickersgill, Thomas Powers and Maurice Powers JR) also worked at the base exchange in Goose Bay Labrador and Toole Greenland.

Mother loved to crochet blankets for everyone she knew. She loved scrapbooking and doing decoupage. Anything that she could get her hands on doing arts and crafts, she was doing it. She had many dogs over the years she loved them more than humans and said there was never a stray dog her pride and favorite dogs were the “Newfy” dogs. She also traveled many places with her husband Maurice.

She was Preceded in death by her Husband Maurice Vincent Powers of 53 years in 2011. Also her parents Andrew and Bridget Roost, her sister’s, her Son Maurice Vincent Powers JR. and her Grand son Maurice Vincent Powers III.

She is survived by her 2 sons, 10 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren.
