CARLOS GOMEZ FUNES

Me
a cambio.

My life began on Wednesday, October 24, 1956, I was born in Sonsonate, El Salvador; But I grew
up in Mejicanos, where I spent all my childhood and youth, always full of love with my father,

Mamá Toyita, Mamá Tey, my uncle Carlos and all my cousins, with whom we had many
adventures and fun experiences.
I learned to enjoy plants, gardens, birds, a good soccer game, an ice cold beer accompanied by
smoked ribs and fried tortilla. Growing up, I added to my interests and hobbies everything about
car mechanics, airplanes and robots (I’m always up to date), I read everything that comes to my
hands about it, as well as everything history related. I love documentaries.
My aspirations and desires to travel the world led me to study engineering and learn English. At
that time, I met my wife and mother of my daughters, with whom we always share other interests,
which were added to those I already had.
I never had siblings, my cousins became my brothers and sisters. Lore’s family, my wife, adopted
me as a part of theirs, Then the family grew and we were no longer 2 but 5, and that is how this
new adventure began with my beautiful daughters whom I love forever and always.
I remember how on Saturdays I would take my daughter Karen to my work and teach her all the
processes that we did there; she asked me about everything, and I was happy to teach her.
There were difficult moments that have been part of the learning not only for me and Lorena but
even for my beautiful daughters Karen, Jennifer and Astrid, we learned that without God we are
nothing and we must ask for his wisdom, entrust our steps to Him and that if we can Help
someone, even when we have our own difficulties, we must do it without expecting anything in
return.
Now that I look back, I can confirm that those unique, happy moments full of love, struggles and
triumphs, God in his divine mercy gave them to us. Jesus Christ was, is and always will be the
center of our lives, He keeps us, gives us strength and confidence to fulfill his purpose while we
are on earth, so that later, he can fulfill his promise of eternal life, meet again in heaven and enjoy
forever with Him.
And now from here from heaven, I only ask my heavenly Father to take care of my family for me,
to accompany them at all times and to allow them to fulfill all their dreams and I will be happy
seeing them; because I am sure that with his feathers he will cover them and that under his wings
they will be safe, until we meet again and be together for eternity.
